We are members of the Board of Directors of Fundación La Magdalena, a non-profit
social organization operating in the Artigas department since 1987. It was created on
the initiative of French citizens, who after many years of work established it as a
gesture of gratitude towards the department, particularly the Paso Farías area,
Route 30 Km. 58.
Fundación La Magdalena has a very active presence in the rural areas of the
department, covering various sectors such as education, health, social, and religious.
Training courses are provided for rural workers at their facilities, with technical
support, among others, from the Instituto Plan Agropecuario and the Uruguayan
Wool Secretariat.
In the health sector, the Monseñor Carlos A. Nicollini Polyclinic operates, staffed
with a doctor, dentist, and nurse.
In the social area, a notable contribution is the donation of land to MEVIR for the
construction of 19 houses.
In the religious aspect, there is the Santa María Magdalena Chapel, part of the Santa
Rosa Parish of Bella Unión, which is the only chapel in the area.
